OREANDA-NEWS. PKN ORLEN Upstream's team will drill another horizontal well in Kisielsk in the Stoczek Lukowski rural commune.

Stoczek-OU1K is PKN ORLEN's tenth well drilled to explore for deposits of unconventional hydrocarbons. It is located in the Wodynie-Lukow licence area, on the border of the Lublin and Warsaw provinces.

The total length of the Stoczek-OU1K well, including its horizontal section, will be approximately 4,200 metres. The 1,100 metres long horizontal section of the well will probe the prospective layer of gas-bearing shales at more than 3,100 metres below ground. The works on the Stoczek-OU1K horizontal well will continue for approximately 30 days and will be completed in Q1 2014.

So far, PKN ORLEN has drilled nine wells exploring for shale gas, including two horizontal wells in Syczyn and Berejow in the Lublin region. Concurrently with the works in the Stoczek Lukowski commune, preparations to drill another well in the county of Swidnik (Lublin Province) are under way. According to PKN ORLEN's schedule, at least four exploratory wells will be drilled in 2014.
