OREANDA-NEWS. Talks on bilateral cooperation between Belarusian and Polish railway infrastructure managers will be held on February 12 in Warsaw.

Management of the Belarusian Railway and PKP “Polish Railway Lines” will discuss topical issues on the operation, maintenance of railway infrastructure and access to it for organization of transportation services through the Belarusian-Polish border.

Furthermore, the parties intend to examine cross-border railway infrastructure and determine its development prospects.

Currently, the technical potential of the Belarusian Railway allows to successfully develop further cooperation with European partners to increase the traffic volume in the connection East-West-East.

A full customer service system which not only includes all freight forwarding railway operations, delivery of cargo by road transport owned by the Railway, but also custom clearance performance, is operated at cargo terminals.

Opening of the border crossing Svislac-Siemianuuka on January 31 this year, with the purpose of performing phytosanitary control operations by Poland, contributes to further development of bilateral cooperation.

This allows the Belarusian main line to expand the range of transported goods. Besides coal, nowadays the railway also transports timber from Belarus to Poland, which is effectively offering various options of transport and logistics delivery schemes for exporters and recipients.
