OREANDA-NEWS. March 13, 2014. The Government has addressed the European partners with a request to stir up taking a decision on giving Eur 2 billion from the general assistance package to Ukraine. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk declared from the Parliament rostrum.

The suggested to Ukraine general assistance package makes up Eur 15 billion, Arsenii Yatseniuk said. In particular, “concrete sum amounting Eur 610 million is envisaged as macro-financial assistance, ratified by the Parliament, and additional Eur 1.4 billion as non-repayable financial assistance, grants”.

Arsenii Yatseniuk appealed to the European partners: “We are facing not just difficult – we are having an extremely difficult economic situation. Hence, we are asking to stir up adopting a decision on giving Eur 2 billion to Ukraine”.

The Prime Minister reminded that the US Congress had also approved a decision on providing USD 1 bln as guarantees rendered by the American government: “I consider in the shortest terms possible we will be able to obtain the financial assistance”.

The Head of Government recalled that he had participated in the extraordinary summit of the EU Heads of state and governments in Brussels: “The results of this meeting are as follows – the EU took a decision on signing the political part of the Association Agreement with Ukraine”.

Moreover, he noted the European Union was to unilaterally open the European market for Ukrainian goods. Meanwhile, the parties jointly agreed to hold additional consultations concerning signing a block of documents regarding free trade area: “in order to avoid any speculations, in the first place in the east of Ukraine, in order to assure everyone that signing of the economic agreement would provide only with additional investments, work-places and would not affect negatively bilateral economic relations between Ukraine and Russia; in order to make east understand that the new Ukrainian Government don’t divide Ukraine into west and east”.
