OREANDA-NEWS. March 21, 2014. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk considers that taxation of incomes received from investment of funds on deposit, shall apply only to accounts that exceed UAH 50 thousand. He said this during a session of the Government.

He recalled that one of the proposals of the Ministry of Finance regarding amendments to tax system is the taxation of incomes received from investment of funds on deposits.

Arsenii Yatseniuk stressed that he is an opponent to the idea that all income from deposits will be taxed. The Prime Minister said that according to his income declaration for 2013, interest income from investment of funds on deposit was amounted to UAH 614000, of which, under current law, he "did not pay any tax rate."

"I think it's wrong. That is, those who receive significant revenue should share with the country. That is why we need to tax, including my income, and the citizens of Ukraine who receive significant income from deposits," Arsenii Yatseniuk stressed.

At the same time, as the Prime Minister said, he opposes taxation of income on deposits of the Ukrainians, "who have small savings."

Arsenii Yatseniuk noted that nearly 90% of the Ukrainians have deposits in the amount of UAH 50000: "Incomes on such deposits should not be taxed. And 10% of the riches have to share with the country and society - this is the right approach, it happens everywhere."

"On the one hand, we will solve the problem so that persons invest money for deposit, on the other hand - this is a matter of social justice and help to the country. If you get hundred thousands of income – you should give a part to the society," he said.

Arsenii Yatseniuk also informed, that he would address with the appropriate propositions to the Parliament, "where there are also the 10% of the Ukrainians, who receive significant revenue from investment funds on deposit."
