OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2014. Moldova imported about 641,000 tons of oil in 2013, 10.9 per cent more against 2012, according to the Annual Report of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE).

The highest increase, 17.6 per cent, was registered in diesel imports, which accounts for over 60 per cent of the total imports of fuels. Petrol procurements remained almost unchanged against 2013, 160,000 tons, and liquefied gas imports increased by 1.4 per cent.

Romania was the largest supplier of petrol and diesel fuel for Moldova, accounting for 72.4 per cent and 60.5 per cent respectively. Most liquefied gas was imported from Kazakhstan - 45.3 per cent, Russia - 38.5 per cent.

According to ANRE, the average cost of a barrel of oil (Brent) on the world market was 108.5 dollars in 2013. The highest price, 116 dollars, was recorded in February, last year, and the lowest, 103 dollars - in May-June. The annual average petrol import price was 1,030 dollars per ton, reaching 995 dollars for one ton in late 2013. The average diesel fuel import price was 985 dollars per ton.

The domestic petrol consumption decreased by 4.8 per cent in 2013, while the diesel fuel retail trade rose by 5.5 per cent. The pump price for one litre of petrol was 17.16 lei and diesel fuel - 16.15 lei / litre.

An average of 521 tons of petrol, 1,386 tons of diesel fuel and 261 tons of liquefied gas were consumed daily in Moldova in 2013.

A number of 119 economic agents holding 190 licenses for these regulated activities worked on the domestic oil products market in 2013, ANRE added.
