OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus' fixed-capital investments and investments in construction totalled 20.229 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br) in January-February 2014, or U.S. USD 2.054 billion at the official rate of the central bank, down 18.7% year on year, the National Statistics Committee told.

As much as 7.343 trillion rubles (USD 745.482 million) was spent on buying machines, equipment, and vehicles in January-February 2014, down 28.9% from the 2013 level.

Imported machines and equipment account for 59.8% of the funds invested. 26.5% of imported machinery and equipment was purchased on the territory of Belarus.

Investments in construction and assembly operations totalled 10.689 trillion rubles (USD 1.085 billion), down 11% on the year in January-February 2014.

As much as 754,100 square metres of new homes was commissioned in the period, up 17.4% on the year.
