OREANDA-NEWS. On March 31, 2014 the Russian office of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) played host to a meeting between Anatoly Zaretski, BUCE Vice Chairman, and Andrei Danilenko, Chairman of the National Union of Milk Producers (Soyuzmoloko). The meeting focused on the current matters of mutual interest as well as future cooperation.

Anatoly Zaretski presented information about Decree No 191 of the Government of the Republic of Belarus. The document provides for a wider use of the exchange trade mechanism for export of certain kinds of agricultural products, including dairy (dry skimmed milk, dairy butter, cheeses, etc.).

When discussing the advantages of selling dairy products at a commodity exchange (and namely openness and transparency), Andrei Danilenko drew attention to the possibility of joining efforts in a bid to eradicate the so called “grey schemes”, dishonest mediation and predatory pricing.

The participants of the meeting noted that well-coordinated actions of Soyuzmoloko and BUCE are bound to have a positive effect on the development of the Russian and Belarusian dairy markets. They are also likely to give a strong impetus to trade and economic cooperation within the Single Economic Space.

Following the meeting, the parties determined specific areas of interaction in dairy trade. Additionally, seeking to boost the development of cooperation, the participants of the meeting agreed to arrange a return visit of the delegation of the National Union of Milk Producers and the Agroindustrial Association of the Customs Union to Minsk. The delegation will be led by Andrei Danilenko.
