OREANDA-NEWS. The 8th meeting of the council of OMK's chief power engineers took place at Blagoveshchensk Valves Plant (BVP OJSC, based in the Republic of Bashkortostan, part of United Metallurgical Company, OMK CJSC). The power supply experts exchanged experience and discussed ways of increasing the efficiency of the power supply systems at the affiliates. It was the first time BVP hosted such an event since joining United Metallurgical Company.

During the meeting, OMK's power engineers singled out lowering the energy intensity of production as their main task. This could be achieved by improving the energy resource inventory and using secondary power supply sources, and by installing innovative energy-saving equipment.

“These council meetings are held to foster the exchange of experience in energy-saving, and to prompt discussion of the pros and cons of new production and energy saving equipment. Based on the analysis of the benchmarks and energy efficiency indicators of the OMK affiliates, we can considerably increase the efficiency of our work, which will in the long run have a positive effect on tackling issues related to ecology, health protection, and production costs,” said Vyacheslav Volodin, Head of the Energy Supply Development Department at OMK.
