OREANDA-NEWS. ZAO Chelnyvodokanal, a subsidiary of KAMAZ, is to finish modernizing and overhauling water supply and drainage systems drawing a grant issued by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Physical works on four of five lots are fulfilled. Altogether, more than 61 thousand running meters of pipes have been repaired for a little over two years. The sewerage system in Complex 17 of ZYAB settlement was improved. Two sewer pumping plants were taken out of operation to reduce service expenses.

Improvements should be completed by late June 2014. Thanks to the efficient use of the appropriated funds and high-quality and timely operations, the city will receive 40 million roubles more to repair main sewers.
It should be recalled that the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development jointly with the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation organized a competition for a non-repayable grant to perform works in the sphere of housing and communal services in 2008 under a housing and communal services reform program. Projects of 10 Russian cities were chosen at the first stage, and finally the grant went to only one city – Naberezhnye Chelny – which offered five projects on renovation of its water supply system. They were thoroughly audited by the bank and the Ministry. According to the terms of the competition, the amount of the grant depended on the city’s population: 50 dollars per one citizen. As a result, Chelny received 25.8 million dollars, or 750 million roubles for modernization of the water supply system.
