OREANDA-NEWS. Anhui's energy consumption reached 30 million tons of standard coal equivalent in the first quarter of 2014 (Q1), up 5.9 percent year-on-year, according to the provincial bureau of statistics.

Its energy consumption per unit of gross domestic production (GDP) dropped by 3.35 percent from a year earlier, down from 3.52 percent for last Q1. The Jan-Mar period also saw a decrease in energy consumption per unit of value-added output and power consumption per unit of GDP, said the bureau.

The province's GDP rose 9.6 percent year-on-year, compared to last Q1's 11.2 percent, statistics showed.
