Signed at the 21st World Petroleum Congress, Moscow, the contract for construction of the first 54 kilometres of the pipeline has been awarded to Spetsgazavtotrans. The remaining 41 kilometres, as far as the connection point with the Zapolyarye-Purpe transportation network, will be laid by upstream engineering and construction specialists Velesstroy.

Construction will begin in late 2014. The first oil deliveries via the pipeline (which has a total capacity of six million tonnes per year) are anticipated in late 2016, concurrent with the field going into production. Work is currently being undertaken to ensure all necessary preparation for construction to commence, including delivery of equipment and materials.
