OREANDA-NEWS. The results of the third competition of the Perspective youth project, implemented as part of the Our Town Initiatives programme and supported by Metalloinvest, were rounded up in Novotroitsk. The aim of the competition is to motivate young people to get involved with projects that utilise their professional expertise and advance their careers. The finalists were selected by a panel of experts from the town administration and Metalloinvest. Metalloinvest contributed approximately half a million roubles on implementation of the winning projects.

This year, nine social projects intended to create a favourable environment for the younger generation were submitted for the competition. The projects were designed by students from secondary schools and higher education institutions in the town. The panel chose the five best social ideas to implement in the town:

Establishing Workout Club by installing additional sports equipment for outdoor activities and involving teenagers from marginal groups in sports;

Assembling a “supermini” racing kart that will enable young children to participate in international competitions;

Creating a Novotroitsk Online Museum website;

Organising an intellectual games club;

Holding an “I love Novotroitsk” contest to design the town's landmark building;

Olga Bessolova, director of the Our Town Initiatives programme and an advisor on social issues to the CEO of Management Company METALLOINVEST said: “Participating in the competition shows young people they are a fundamental part of their home town. Students from secondary schools and higher educational institutions have the opportunity to put their knowledge acquired at school into practice and more importantly, see visible results. This is great encouragement for them to study more and provides them with the opportunity to choose their future path in life and in their career.

The Perspective project is part of the comprehensive Our Town Initiatives programme, implemented in Novotroitsk with support of Metalloinvest. It focuses on the implementation of projects designed to create healthier surroundings in the town. The project aims to encourage social activity leading to young people realising their ambitions. The implementation of the projects submitted by the contest participants will enable a range of solutions to be developed for socio-cultural issues in Novotroitsk and will motivate young professionals to stay in their home town.
