OREANDA-NEWS. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced late yesterday it has tentatively selected SFO to participate in the Reimbursable Services Program (RSP), which allows airport to fund expanded CBP staffing levels to improve processing times for arriving passengers.

“We are pleased to have been selected for this program,” said Airport Director John L. Martin. “Our guests can look forward to reduced wait times in the Customs facility as a result.”

SFO was tentatively selected along with four other airports to join the pilot-test reimbursement program, which will encompass a total of 16 locations across the U.S. in the 2014 fiscal year. The plan allows airports to reimburse the CBP for overtime staffing expenses, which can be used to improve processing and inspection times for incoming commercial and cargo traffic.
