OREANDA-NEWS. The risks involved in the launch of Progress M-24M cargo spacecraft and its subsequent coupling with the International Space Station were insured by SOGAZ OJSC and Ingosstrakh Insurance Company for the amount of RUB 1.57 bn. The insurant was the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure” (FSUE "TSENKI").

The spacecraft was insured against total loss from any cause during its launch and coupling with the ISS. Reinsurance was provided with the use of the capacity of Russian and foreign reinsurance markets.

The agreement was concluded on the terms of coinsurance pursuant to the results of public tender. Еach company has a share of 50 %.

Progress M-24M spacecraft was launched on July, 24 at 01:44 Moscow Time from Baikonur Cosmodrome. At 7:31 a.m., the space truck docked automatically with the Pierce compartment of the Russian segment of the ISS. The insurance protection remained in force until the opening of the passageway of the docking device of the spacecraft after its coupling with the International Space Station.

The space truck delivered about 2.3 mt of cargo, including fuel, oxygen, food, equipment for scientific experiments, and parcels for the crew to the ISS.
