OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus expects the provisions of the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty to be implemented within the timescale agreed, Belarus' Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei said in a television interview.

“We hope that everything will be implemented within the timescale that was agreed upon while signing the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty. A lot has already been said about it. Naturally, we are not quite happy with this version of the treaty as it contains a great number of exemptions and restrictions. It is far from the treaty that was announced by all the participants some time ago. However, in any case, it is a step forward,” Makei said.

In his words, Belarus will benefit from this treaty because it opens up great prospects for economic growth. “We are determined to observe all the requirements of the treaty and the obligations we assumed. The issues that were not settled on the tripartite level will be addressed in the bilateral format. We concluded legally binding agreements with Russia. I am convinced that all the agreements will be fulfilled. We are interested in the establishment of the common market without any exemptions and restrictions as soon as possible,” the minister said.
