OREANDA-NEWS. DTEK, Ukraine's largest energy company, announces its performance results for 1H 2014. DTEK enterprises produced 20.7 million tons of coal (+3.5% YoY), generated 24.6 billion kWh of electricity (+1.2%), transmitted 27.9 billion kWh of electricity via networks (-4%), and produced 345.6 million cubic meters of natural gas.

"War is raging in Ukraine. And each of us is fighting for something of our own: the army is fighting for peace and quiet, the doctors - for the lives of the injured, and relatives and friends - for their beliefs," said Maxim Timchenko, DTEK's CEO, commenting on the Company's performance results in 1H 2014. "Power engineers and miners are defending the energy security of Ukraine. Almost one-third of Ukraine's energy facilities are concentrated in Donbas. If infrastructure is destroyed, it will mean even higher energy and economic dependence on neighbouring countries. We are making every effort to maintain the operation of our companies to prevent that from actually happening. We are paying salaries to employees and supporting the activity of cities. We are paying all of our taxes to the national budget, which needs the money more than ever. And „Akhmetov's power engineers“, as the media calls DTEK's maintenance teams, are repairing the networks every day to restore electricity supply to Ukrainian homes and companies in Donbas."
