OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus' foreign trade surplus totalled USD 602.7 million in January-June 2014, compared to a USD 165.6 million deficit in January-June 2013, the National Bank of Belarus said in a report.

The overall turnover of commodities and services in foreign trade shrank 2.8% on the year in January-June 2014 to USD 43.376 billion.

Exports of commodities and services reduced 1.1% to USD 21.989 billion, and imports decreased 4.5% to USD 21.387 billion.

According to the NBB, the deficit of foreign trade in goods totalled USD 121.8 million compared to a deficit of USD 1.296 billion in January-June 2013.

Commodity exports (in FOB prices) reduced 1.6% on the year in January-June 2014 to USD 18.483 billion; imports down 7.3% to USD 18.604 billion.

Belarus ended up with a commodity trade surplus in January-June 2014, which reached USD 724.5 million to compare with a USD 1.130 billion surplus in January-June 2013.

Export of services increased 1.6% the year in January-June 2014 to USD 3.507 billion, imports - up 19.8% to USD 2.782 billion.

As previously reported, Belarus' foreign trade deficit totalled USD 1.724 billion in January-December 2013, compared to a USD 3.023 billion surplus in January-December 2012.

The overall turnover of commodities and services reached in foreign trade shrank 11.2% on the year in Jan-Dec 2013 to USD 89.464 billion.

Exports of commodities and services reduced 15.5% to USD 43.87 billion, and imports decreased 6.7% to USD 45.594 billion.
