OREANDA-NEWS. August 26, 2014. The opening ceremony of the new water treatment plant in Paide will take place. Its construction began in May 2013. The cost of the facility turned out to be approximately 6.6 million euros, net of VAT. The construction was ordered by AS Paide Vesi, and the designers were OU Aqua Baltic and Eesti Veeprojekt OU.

“We have solved the long-term concern of Jarva County and the town of Paide, and the people in Paide can now enjoy one of the largest and the most high-tech water treatment plants in Central Estonia,” said Jaano Vink, chairman of the management board of Nordecon AS. “Thanks to the new water treatment plant the environment will be greatly improved because this plant, which is situated only 200 metres from the Parnu River, firmly ensures compliance with all strict standards.”

Tarmo Vaher, management board member of AS Paide Vesi, stated that not only Paide’s wastewater will be treated in the plant. “AS Paide Vesi will also transport the residual waste sludge to the Paide plant generated by the water treatment plants in six rural municipalities of Jarva County. In the Paide plant and on its composting field, when it’s finished, the sludge will undergo its final treatment,” Vaher added.

“During construction, a new water treatment utility house with an area of 1,300 sq. metres was erected, purification tanks set up, and a cleaning site of tank vehicles as well as a driveway to Mundi Street built. In addition, a complex of garages was constructed and a compact substation installed. During the final stages of the work, after the trial period of the new plant had been successfully concluded, the buildings and facilities of the old plant were also demolished,” said project manager of Nordecon AS Marek Soot. “Approximately 2.5 kilometres of piping and more than 300 metres of drainage systems were constructed in total.”
