OREANDA-NEWS. August 26, 2014. Reconstruction works at the roof section of Kola MMC smelting shop are nearing completion with the area of upper layer being replaced totaling 1440 m2.

The new roof is made of rolled steel and unlike the old one features anticorrosive coating which shall guarantee service life of over 10 years.

According to the Company’s specialists, implementation of this project will improve their working conditions and result in considerable ecological benefits, given that ventilation shafts previously utilized to remove flue gasses accumulated at the upper section of the building were removed during the reconstruction. Such gasses posed the biggest environmental threat for Nikel residential area and will now be collected through gas ducts.

Reconstruction works will continue in 2015 with plans for replacing additional 1 200 m2 of the smelting shop’s roof.
