OREANDA-NEWS. On September 2, 2014, the competition of the operational staff of JSC TGC-1 hydroelectric power plants started at the premises of the Central CHPP in St. Petersburg.

There are nine teams at the competition representing nine HPP cascades that are located in Leningrad Oblast, Murmansk Oblast, and the Republic of Karelia, and Narvskaya HPP. Each team includes two people, namely, the plant's shift supervisor and duty wireman.

For four days from September 2 to September 5, the teams will compete for the title of the best in six stages, namely, a check of the knowledge of statutory documents and occupational safety rules, firefighting and emergency training, first aid, and routine switching.

The hydropower professionals will demonstrate their experience both at virtual simulators and at a specially equipped testing ground where the conditions are as close to reality as possible.

The passing of the stages will be evaluated by a jury that is established by JSC TGC-1 professionals and representatives of independent organizations.

Alexey Vorobyov, Deputy Chief Engineer of JSC TGC-1 who is the Head of the jury, addressed the competition participants and judges with a welcoming speech. He emphasized that the principles of the judgment would be impartiality and objectivity.

“The main goals of the competition are evaluation of professional mastership, improvement of the operational staff's work and efficiency, and evaluation of the company's human resource reserves,” said Vorobyov. “Competitions of operational staff are a traditional event that draws the results of our routine work.”

According to the sortition, on the first day of the competition the competing teams will be those of the Pazskiye, Nivskiye, Vygskiye, and Vuoksinskiye HPP Cascades of JSC TGC-1.
