OREANDA-NEWS. The Capesize-class bulk carrier MV Ore Pantanal berthed alongside the export quay at Malaysia's Teluk Rubiah Marine Terminal on August 18. The vessel will be loaded with 176,000 metric tons of iron ore stockpiled at the terminal during the commissioning process, prior to setting off on its maiden export voyage, bound for our clients in Southeast Asia.

Teluk Rubiah represents an advance in Vale's strategy of seeking closer ties with the Asian market and being capable of offering products to address its demand. Since 2011, our company has been engaged in the construction of the terminal, which includes an iron ore distribution centre, a deepwater pier and a stock yard. The facility will increase our logistics operations as well as addressing the demands of the steel industries in the Asia Pacific region.

The arrival of the Capesize MV Ore Pantanal in Teluk Rubiah is a significant step towards the project's operational stage, scheduled for the end of September this year. Once concluded, the first phase of the terminal will have the capacity to handle 30 million metric tons of iron ore per year.
