OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2014. The World Economic Forum released on Wednesday its new global competitiveness rankings which put Estonia in 29th place among 144 nations surveyed, up three notches from last year.

Switzerland, Singapore, the United States and Finland are at the top of the index. Of Estonia's key trading partners apart from Finland, Sweden and Germany all of which made the top ten, Lithuania placed 41st, Latvia 42nd and Russia 53rd.

Estonia's relative strengths are labor market efficiency, macroeconomic environment, higher education and training, health and primary education, and goods market efficiency. Competitiveness is weakened by the market size, business sophistication and infrastructure.
