OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, has always undertaken several initiatives to ensure the simultaneous development of its communities. Quality education, with a special focus on girl child, has been one of the primary focus for the Company, and it has always extended assistance to the local schools to help bridge the education gap. In line with this commitment, Tata Power's Haldia plant has undertaken an initiative to renovate a local school, Purba Srikrishnapur Primary School, in Haldia,

The objective of the initiative is to help enrich the learning environment of the children. Of the 250 children who attend the school, majority belong to humble families with little means to access quality education. The local school, Purba Srikrishnapur Primary School, was bereft of basic amenities like clean and separate washrooms for girls, basic furniture like desks and benches, and a school boundary to protect the children from the busy road outside. Understanding the importance for a congenial and hygienic environment in schools, Tata Power extended its help to the School by renovating its infrastructure, setting up washrooms for girls, and providing sufficient furniture- like fans and benches- in every class room of the building.

Speaking about this initiative, Mr. Abhijit Ain Das, Chief, Haldia Station, said, "We at Tata Power believe that providing quality education to children is of utmost importance to secure a bright future of the community at large. It is a proud moment for us to aid the development of these young minds. Through this initiative, we aim to provide the children with an amiable learning atmosphere."

Tata Power has always been focused on community development, and will continue to undertake similar initiatives in the future.
