OREANDA-NEWS. Herman Gref, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Sberbank of Russia held a meeting with the business community of the Primorsky Region that focused on developing the region's economy.

The meeting on the topic "Development Strategy - a Pivot to the East" was attended by the region's leading entrepreneurs, representatives of the Primosky Region Administration and the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East. The discussion covered the potential of the Far Eastern economy amid the current geopolitical situation.

"The socio-economic development of the Russian Far East is largely determined by its close integration with the economies of the Asia-Pacific region, which account for 60% of global GDP," commented Herman Gref. "Today we discussed various business strategies, and also the issues of cooperation between the business community, government and the bank. This will help us better understand clients' needs and more effectively build long-term partnerships with representatives of various segments and industries."

At the event there was also a discussion about the creation of advanced development zones as a key factor for stimulating economic growth and attracting foreign investors by creating a competitive business environment. In accordance with the cooperation agreement signed with the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, Sberbank will become the primary underwriter and expert for financial and economic models of the region's investment projects.
