OREANDA-NEWS. With active support from Sberbank's Security Division, since the start of 2014 more than 50 criminals have been apprehended and prosecuted for committing illegal activities involving the bank's self-service devices. In the first week of October alone, three criminal groups who tried to steal money from Sberbank's self-service devices were neutralised and nine suspects were arrested.

On October 3 in the Voronezh Region town of Semiluki during a crime (an attempt to open the safe of a cash machine), police officers detained five members of an organised crime group who had carried out similar crimes against Sberbank's property in the Voronezh Region in August and September 2014. This operation was a success thanks to effective coordination between Sberbank's Security Division and law enforcement agencies when investigative work being was carried out. This close cooperation made it possible to rapidly get on the trail of the criminals, determine their next moves and meticulously plan their apprehension. The police have irrefutable evidence showing the apprehended individuals' involvement in illegal activities.

In addition, on October 2 and 3 in Moscow two groups of perpetrators were apprehended at crime scenes during attempts to open the safes of cash machines located in round-the-clock self-service areas in Sberbank branches.

Sberbank's Security Division successfully combats organised crime by using cutting edge technical security measures. The successes achieved in this area are solely a result of the close cooperation between the security teams of Sberbank of Russia and law enforcement agencies.
