OREANDA-NEWS. In September, 2014, "Zaporizhstal" SW achieved the historical minimum in consumption of natural gas by its steel-making production - 21.4 m©ш per ton of steel (in September of 2012 - 45.1 m©ш per ton of steel, in September of 2013 - 31.3 m©ш per ton of steel). Therefore, only for 9 months of 2014, while making steel, the Works saved 19.4 million of m©ш of natural gas as compared with the same period of the last year.

Cut-off in consumption of natural gas in steel-making production is consistently decreasing due to implementation of the energy-efficiency measures program, as follows: implementation of the unique process flow diagrams, optimization of chimney valves reversal, operation of roofless burner, fuel-free oxygen-lancing process, fuel-free oxygen steel making in Open-Hearth Furnaces.

"For two years, the Works has cut-off natural gas consumption in production process for twice; this is the result of operation of t5he whole collective. The qualitative implementation and development of the continuous improvement system, which includes all the main shops of the Works, permits us effectively and, the main thing - in a consistent manner, to eliminate the losses and to solve the most complicated production problems", - the CEO of "Zaporizhstal" Rostyslav Shurma noted.

As a whole, with growth of the production levels in September, 2014 (iron for 25.2%, steel - for 5.2%, rolled stock - for 5.9% in comparison with the same period of 2013), the Works has cut-off natural gas consumption for 14% - from 16.5 million of.m©ш in September of 2013 to 14.2 million m©ш in September of 2014
