OREANDA-NEWS. On October 8, 2014 the Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Supervision issued the Kolskaya NPP the license the power unit №4 to operate for 25 years - until December 7, 2039.

This is unprecedented in the history of the nuclear power of the Russian Federation - the director of the Kolskaya NPP Vasily Omelchuk thinks. "It shows that we've done a tremendous amount of work and made this work properly."

Obtaining a license was preceded by extensive work to assess the resource characteristics of the equipment, followed by the replacement or modernization, as well as a range of activities aimed at improving the safety and reliability.

For this achievement more than 2500 employees should work at the nuclear power plant, and there should be the same number of regular partners of the nuclear power plant - contract workers from supporting organizations.

The Kolskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in 200 km to the South from Murmansk on the shore of the Lake Imandra.
