Results from an online survey of small business owners** indicated that the majority of small business owners (76%) tend to outsource when they don't have the knowledge, expertise or time for a particular project. The second most common reason for outsourcing is due to time constraints (58%); followed by those that don't want to do it themselves (39%) or think it will take too much time to figure out (36%).

The survey also indicated found that small business owners like to do their own homework as well as rely on outside resources in determining the right service provider. The majority of those surveyed claimed to do their own online research (76%), closely followed by (67%) or previous experience with the company (63%).
