OREANDA-NEWS. According to the agency “Auto-Dealer-SPb", for 9 months of 2014 the demand for cars of St. Petersburg production in Russia decreased by 12% to 245,116 vehicles.

The popularity of passenger cars in Russia from the North capital began to fall in the spring. Even in the first quarter of sales the growth was recorded in St. Petersburg cars by 3%. But the results of six months there was a reduction in demand by 6%.

Among the four car plants, represented in St. Petersburg, sales rose only at Nissan - an increase of 2%. Hyundai and Toyota are in slightly negative (-2% and -5%, respectively), while the most negative result was at General Motors - the fall in demand for the three models that are produced at the plant was 41%.

"Three plants of four showed acceptable results against the background of the situation on the market of new cars in Russia”, - said General Director of “Auto-Dealer-SPb", Mikhail Chaplygin. - It was contributed by the updated model range and presence in the line of cars, the demand for which is less susceptible to market fluctuations. The reason for such a strong fall of GM - is the ending of the life cycle of two flagship models of the enterprise”.

Recall that for the first 9 months St. Petersburg plants produced 272,700 vehicles, which is less by 5% than the same period of 2013. “Hyundai and Toyota compensated the reduction of demand by export of products to neighboring countries, it accounts for about 10% of the volume of production", - said Mikhail Chaplygin.

Four car plants of St. Petersburg produced 10 car models: Chevrolet Cruze, Opel Astra, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Nissan Teana, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Murano, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio.
