OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2014. Bakcell, The First Mobile Operator and The Leading Mobile Internet Provider of Azerbaijan has launched a new project in cooperation with the United Aid for Azerbaijan (UAFA).

Within the frames of this project, children with physical disabilities will be provided with social rehabilitation services, along with support in developing their social communication skills. This project is a continuation of projects, successfully implemented jointly by Bakcell and UAFA, throughout the last 4 years.

Activities organized for the children by the local UAFA centers (Yasamal district of Baku, Khachmaz region, city of Ganja) were designed based on their specific needs and interests. These activities include courses on theater, dancing, painting, photo, computers and sports. The courses will be conducted by professionals in the sphere of child development; in certain cases, the parents will be able to voluntarily participate in the classes.

Overall, this project will cover more than 250 children.

Cooperation between Bakcell and UAFA has started back in the year 2010. Throughout all these years, hundreds of children and teenagers in need had the opportunity to obtain various skills and abilities, which will bring some significant positive changes to their lives, by means of sports, dancing, drama, arts, computers and photography classes. Today, they spend most of their time at various events, walks and trainings, instead of staying at home in isolation from the society. Now, they are being invited to all the important events in the city and regions, and participate in various contests and tournaments. In the past 4 years, Nurlan and Ali from Babajanov’s family, who also took part in rehabilitation activities within the joint project of Bakcell and UAFA, became powerlifting champions of the city, country and Europe. Their new goal is to become the Paralympic powerlifting champions.

Just as the various classes, the rehabilitation services are the components of the Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) program, and contribute mobilization of the community for the sake of increasing opportunities for the children with disabilities and their families.

CBR services, provided at the UAFA centers, are aimed at restoration of the functional skills. Timely elimination of developmental delay of children should help prevent disability from developing into a more heavy form.

“Bakcell Stars” Corporate Responsibility Program will continue making contributions to creation of all the necessary conditions for children in need.
