OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2014. In Kazakhstan, more than 18 million tons of grain have been harvested. However, harvesting is still going on despite the cold weather in some regions of the country. This was announced by the executive secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Arman Yevniyev.

"Today, more than 18 million tons of grain have been harvested. It is still in gross weight. In the net weight it is about 10-15% less according to forecasts," A. Yevniyev told the reporters.

He clarified that the grain harvesting is still going on in some regions of the country, where it is possible, of course. "Growers use every opportunity, in particular, harvest at night, and do everything that possible during the frost. We have experience when such sites were in spring, got the crops in and received a good harvest and in good quality. It's a small part, according to our sources, no more than 1,5-2% (of uncollected harvest), the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture said.

Yevniyev also added that he did not notice decadent mood among farmers in connection with difficult harvesting conditions.

"I myself have met with growers in the fields at the weekend. I am glad that there is no such a decadent mood, disastrous relations to some critical situation. Everyone understands and makes a sober estimate of the situation, skillfully overcomes difficulties," the secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture said.

"Today, at such weather, the main lesson is that the speed of harvesting depends not on the availability of harvesting equipment and combines, but on the ability of elevator households to take grain volume. Everyone understands it today. It's a big signal to the market: one needs to buy a drying cabinet, build elevators, storages, purchase modern processors, and we are sure that there are all possibilities. The conclusion will be made by the manufacturers," he said.
