OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus' foreign trade surplus totalled USD 871.6 million in January-September 2014, compared to a USD 1.059 billion deficit in January-September 2013, the National Bank of Belarus said in an online report.

The overall turnover of commodities and services in foreign trade shrank 2.8% on the year in January-September 2014 to USD 66.08 billion.

Exports of commodities and services reduced remained unchanged year on year at USD 33.48 billion, and imports decreased 5.5% to USD 32.6 billion.

According to the NBB, the deficit of foreign trade in goods totalled USD 705.3 million compared to a deficit of USD 2.62 billion in January-September 2013.

Commodity exports (in FOB prices) reduced 1.1% on the year in January-September 2014 to USD 27.644 billion; imports down 7.3% to USD 28.349 billion.

Belarus ended up with a commodity trade surplus in January-September 2014, which reached USD 1.577 million to compare with a USD 1.559 billion surplus in January-September 2013.

Export of services increased 6.4% the year in January-September 2014 to USD 5.832 billion, imports - up 8.1% to USD 4.255 billion.

As previously reported, Belarus' foreign trade deficit totalled USD 1.724 billion in January-December 2013, compared to a USD 3.023 billion surplus in January-December 2012.

The overall turnover of commodities and services reached in foreign trade shrank 11.2% on the year in Jan-Dec 2013 to USD 89.464 billion.

Exports of commodities and services reduced 15.5% to USD 43.87 billion, and imports decreased 6.7% to USD 45.594 billion.
