OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus was there to witness a 1.2% inflation growth in October 2014, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a press-release.

Consumer prices grew 14.8% in January-October 2014.

Food prices grew 1.1% month on month in October 2014 (up 17.8% in Jan-Oct), including the price of foodstuffs - up 1.2% (up 16.3%), Belstat informed.

The price of the following food products went down in October: potatoes - down 4.4% (minus 6.5% in Jan-Oct 2014); sugar - down 0.1% (+23.3%); butter - down 0.02% (+12.6%).

The price of the following foodstuffs went up in October: vegetables - up 32.5% (down 13.2% in Jan-Oct 2014); bread and bakery goods - up 1% (+3.9%); confectionery goods - up 1% (+10.5%); tobaccos - up 0.1% (+21%); alcoholic beverages - up 0.3% (+22.6%); fish and seafood - up 0.4% (+17.4%); cheese - up 1.9% (+16.5%); cereals - up 0.7% (+12.3%); milk and dairy products - up 0.3% (+8.9%); meat and poultry - up 0.9% (+34.2%); sausage and smoked meat - up 1.5% (+20.8%), tea - up 0.9% (+16.8%).

Non-food prices grew 1.2% on the month in October 2014 (up 6.1% in Jan-Oct).

The price of the following non-food products went down in October: bicycles and motorbikes - down 0.2% (+2.8% in Jan-Oct 2014), household electric appliances - down 0.2% (+3.9%).

The price of the following non-food products went up in October: clothes - up 0.5% (+3.8%); medications - up 2.9% (+21.2%); construction materials - up 0.6% (+6.1%); perfumery - up 0.9% (+8.4%); fabrics - up 0.4% (+4.5%), detergents - up 0.3% (+12%); petrol - up 5% (+20.3%), furniture - up 0.7% (+4.3%).

The prices of services grew 2.5% on the month in October 2014 (up 22.6% in Jan-Oct).

Utility tariffs grew 7.2% on the month in October 2014 (up 30.1% in Jan-Oct).

Passenger transportation tariffs reduced 1.9% on the month in October 2014 (up 17.9%), medical services - up 1.8% (up 26%), telecom services - up 1.9% (up 18.7%).

Belarus' government originally expected inflation growth to stay under 11% in 2014, however in April the forecast was downplayed to 16-17%. Belarus' consumer prices grew 16.5% in 2013, while the government's forecast stood at 12%.
