OREANDA-NEWS. Miami International Airport expects to welcome more than 914,000 passengers during the eight-day Thanksgiving travel week that runs from Monday, November 24 to Monday, December 1, for a projected increase of one percent over the same travel period in 2013. The busiest days are expected to be the Saturday, Sunday and Monday after Thanksgiving, with more than 127,000 passengers anticipated on each of those days. Weekend and weekday passenger totals at MIA are typically 113,000 and 105,000, respectively.

Just as the busy holiday travel season picks up steam, MIA has been named one of the nation's top airports for on-time performance during the winter months, which is surely welcome news for holiday travelers. A newly released study by Boston-based flight data research company Hopper ranked MIA second for on-time performance among America's top 20 airports for winter travel, well ahead of the four other Florida airports that made the list.
