OREANDA-NEWS. Plant Bridgestone for the production of tires will be launched in the Ulyanovsk region in the summer of 2016. As the CEO of “Bridgestone Tire MANUFACTURING CIS”, Hiromi Tanigawa, said, the construction is made actively on the site currently. “Since the beginning of 2015, we plan to bring in equipment and in the first half of 2016 to start the commercial production”, - he said. It will be the first stage of the project, under which the plant plans to produce 12,000 tires daily. The head of the plant in Ulyanovsk also noted that by the technology of production and security the company will be the most modern in the company “Bridgestone Corporation” in the world.

Currently the plant is under recruitment, it was recruited 140 people, and some of the staff is trained in Japan. By the end of 2014 it will be employed over 200 people. It is planned that by the time when the plant reaches full capacity in 2019 the total number of work places will be about 800.

Recall that in April of 2014, Bridgestone began the construction of its first plant in Russia for the production of radial tires for passenger cars, which will be located in the industrial area “Trans-Volga” in the Ulyanovsk region. The total investment in the project will be about 12.5 billion Rubles. “Our company will produce the entire range of tires “Bridgestone” for passenger cars. Given the specificity of the climatic conditions in Russia, we will pay the special attention on the production of winter tires”, - said earlier Hiromi Tanigawa.

Construction of the plant “Bridgestone” is based on the investment agreement between the “Bridgestone Corporation”, “Mitsubishi Corporation”, the Government of the Ulyanovsk region and JSC “Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation” on April 12th, 2013. “Bridgestone Corporation” will own 90% of the capital of the new company, while the share of “Mitsubishi Corporation” will be 10%. The new plant will be managed by the jointly established company of “Bridgestone Corporation” and “MC” - LLC “Bridgestone Tire MANUFACTURING CIS” (“BMSNG”).

According to Bridgestone, the expansion of production will permit the company to strengthen its position in the fastest growing market in Russia and CIS countries. “The Russian market is a priority for our company. Own production in the Ulyanovsk region will allow us to respond quickly to changes in consumer demand in Russia and other CIS countries”, - said General Director of “Bridgestone CIS”, Kuroki Minoru.
