OREANDA-NEWS. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that all skill development schemes of the GOI also permit self-employment as an acceptable outcome. In addition the Ministry of Rural Development implements the Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs), which impart training and skill up gradation of rural youth geared towards entrepreneurship development. This scheme is implemented through banks so that linkage can be facilitated after the training.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today Shri Rudy said, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has implemented the STAR scheme under which the job roles for Agriculture sector were mostly entrepreneurial. Under the STAR scheme 78,183 enrollments were made in agriculture job rols. In addition, in the last 2 years for other sectors, the state wise breakup,including Karnataka,of self-employed candidates as reported by NSDC training partner organizations is given at Annexure-I.
