OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL) has been conferred with Corporate Social Responsibility Awards at Platts Global Energy Award, 2014, which is one of the most prestigious awards in the Energy Sector.

A total of more 200 nominations were received from more than 25 countries including Brazil, India, Russia, Switzerland, China, Thailand, United Kingdom and the United States among others. TPDDL was declared winner from a list of 12 finalists who were shortlisted for the final round. The announcement to the tune was made on 11th December, 2014 at a function held at Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York.

TPDDL has been acknowledged with CSR awards for its comprehensive efforts for uplifting the lives of economically backward section of our society. The company operates more than 290 Adult Women Literacy Centre, Vocational Training Centre, Tutorial Classes, Drug De-addiction camps and mobile dispensary among others.

Expressing pleasure on the global recognitions, a TPDDL spokesperson said, "We are extremely delighted for the acknowledgement at a global platform for our fabulous CSR activities. The award further strengthens are resolve to work towards the upliftment of our society, particularly for those who are at the bottom of the pyramid."

TPDDL's CSR vision supports to the claim of a responsible company, in line with the Tata Group's rich heritage and unmatchable legacy of community development, and aims at imbibing social alignment as a key component of all its business processes and strategy. Creating avenues for education, health services, skill generation programs and empowering communities has been its primary objectives. Over the years, the company has undertaken several CSR initiatives for the underprivileged section of the society like Women Literacy Centers, Vocational Training Centers, Affirmative Action, Drug De-addiction, Health Camps; thereby, empowering the lives of over 8 lac people residing in 219 JJ clusters in its distribution network of North and North- West Delhi.
