OREANDA-NEWS. Lenta, (LSE, MOEX: LNTA) one of the largest retail chains in Russia, is pleased to announce the opening of its first hypermarket in Smolensk, marking Lenta's 24th hypermarket opening for 2014, which meets Lenta's full year hypermarket opening guidance.

The new store is a Lenta compact format hypermarket located at the "Maxi" Shopping Mall, 25 September Street, Smolensk. The store has a total area of 8,883 sq.m, with 4,998 sq.m of selling space and is open from 9 am to 11 pm, seven days a week. A broad product assortment of approximately 19,500 SKUs has been selected specifically for residents of Smolensk and includes Lenta's private label and federal product ranges alongside local produce. The store has 850 parking spaces and 29 cash registers. The property is leased by Lenta.

Lenta's Chief Executive Officer, Jan Dunning said:

"With our 24th hypermarket opening of the year, Lenta has met its guidance for new hypermarkets, set when our IPO was announced in February. Further new openings are scheduled before the year end, so we are confident of exceeding our guidance of 24 new hypermarkets in 2014.
