OREANDA-NEWS. HPCL's Mumbai Refinery has bagged the coveted 'National Energy Conservation Award (First prize)' in the Refinery Sector for the year 2014.

The award was received by Shri B K Namdeo, Director - Refineries of HPCL and Shri N S Jagannadha Rao, ED-MR of HPCL at the hands ofShri PiyushGoyal, Hon'ble Minister of State (IC) for Ministry of Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy, Govt of India, in the presence of Shri Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Secretary to Ministry of Power, Shri Ajay Mathur DG-BEE and other senior officials, at an award ceremony held on National Energy Conservation Day at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi recently.

National Energy Conservation Awards are one of the voluntary innovative schemes initiated by the Ministry of Power to promote energy conservation in various industries like Refineries and other high energy consuming sectors. This is the most coveted award on the national efforts towards energy utilization/ conservation.

HPCL Refineries have accorded highest priority to energy conservation. Their Energy Conservation (ENCON) cells monitor ENCON measures very closely. Employees across all ranks have been educated to improve the knowledge on the ENCON improvement activities. Also, upcoming projects have been tailored to be compatible with the corporation's energy efficiency standards.
