OREANDA-NEWS. On Wednesday, 7 January, in the framework of the official visit to Berlin Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with Federal President of Germany Joachim Gauck.

The parties discussed joint action to overcome the effects of Russian aggression in the East of Ukraine.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that the only way to de-escalate the situation was the implementation of the Minsk agreements that Russia violates.

Among the main steps should be regaining control over the border, the withdrawal of Russian troops and putting an end to supplying weapons to the Russia-led terrorists.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine also discussed with the Federal President the recently adopted Ukraine’s reform package, as well as future plans of the Government to stabilize the financial and economic situation, the steps taken to combat corruption.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk noted the strong political will of the President, the Government and the parliamentary coalition to carry further changes that will bring Ukraine closer to the EU.

As was reported, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk with the Government delegation is on a two-day official visit to Berlin at the invitation of Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The delegation includes the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Natalia Jaresko, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin and Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine Andriy Kobolev.

In Berlin, the Prime Minister of Ukraine held a meeting with Vice-Chancellor, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany Sigmar Gabriel.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk is scheduled to meet with Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, representatives of German business and financial circles. On 8 January, the Prime Minister will speak in the German Association of Foreign Policy.
