Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company has constantly endeavoured to delivering excellence across all verticals and contributing towards the fast development of India's energy sector. In recognition of this commitment, Tata Power and Anil Sardana, managing director, Tata Power have been honoured with the "CBIP Award for Outstanding Performance in the Power Sector" and 'Power Persona of the Year' respectively at the Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) Awards. The Awards were accepted on behalf of Tata Power by Ashok Sethi, COO & executive director, Tata Power.

The awards recognise outstanding contribution of the company to the nation's economy demonstrated through excellent leadership and long-time performance for overall development in all the facets of the Power sector. Mr Sardana was exemplified as a leader for his contribution to the accelerated development of the Power sector.

Commenting on the achievements, Mr Sardana said, "This is indeed a moment of great honour for Tata Power and we are delighted that our efforts have been appreciated on a national platform such as the Central Board of Irrigation and Power Awards. These achievements serve as motivation to strive further towards excellence and contribute to the development of a better India."

The CBIP Awards recognise outstanding contributions by organisations and individuals involved in formulation of policies and programmes and their implementation, research & development, design, execution, management, operation & maintenance, renovation & modernisation, manufacturing of equipment and capacity building in furthering the cause of water resources, power and renewable energy sectors in the country.

Tata Power has ambitious plans to keep fuelling its multi-fold growth across the Power value chain. Currently Tata Power's total operating capacity stands at 8621 MW, wherein 1202 MW comes from clean energy sources. The Company aims to generate 18,000 MW by 2022, coupled with 4000 MW of Distribution cum Decentralised Distributed generation, and intends to have a 20 - 25% contribution from 'clean power sources'.
