OREANDA-NEWS. On Friday, Jan. 16, production got underway at the Lucius field, located at about 380 km (236 miles) southwest of Port Fourchon, Louisiana, United States. Water depth at the site where the field is located is 2,160 m.

Lucius was developed using a Spar-type stationary production unit (SPU), a cylindrical and vertical platform with a daily production capacity of 80,000 barrels of oil and of 12.7 million cubic meters of natural gas.

The leader in deep-water operations, we add another production asset to our portfolio. Lucius is our fourth field in production in ultra-deep waters in the US portion of the Gulf of Mexico. This project contributes to our first production from a Spar-type platform, a technical solution that is different from those we use, however suitable for this type of reservoir in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Lucius field is operated by Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, and we are one of seven partners, with an interest of 11.5%. The field is in the Keathley Canyon area, in the American portion of the Gulf of Mexico.
