OREANDA-NEWS. EMIS Group is pleased to announce that NHS Wales has entered into an agreement with the Group's subsidiary, Ascribe Limited, to provide a clinical solution to manage Unscheduled Care in Wales. This contract will enable the six health boards within NHS Wales to call-off and deploy EMIS Group's clinical information and management solution, Symphony, into their Emergency Department and Minor Injuries units.

As the Framework Agreement was signed, two of the six health boards (Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board (ABMU) and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCU)) also signed deployment orders.

The maximum value of the Framework agreement is approximately ?7.6 million (over the seven year initial term of the contract; there is also an option to extend for a further four years), and includes software and hardware, as well as implementation services and ongoing support and maintenance.

The contracts with ABMU and BCU, together with other contracts announced and under negotiation, demonstrate the increasing traction of the Group's Secondary Care offerings.

The Group also announces that it has appointed Duane Lawrence as Managing Director of its Secondary Care division. Duane joins EMIS Group from his previous role as Chief Executive of InferMed Limited, which provides advanced decision support software in healthcare settings across the world. Duane was previously General Manager of Misys Healthcare International helping to set up its international healthcare business.  He brings to EMIS Group 25 years of experience in sales and operations across both primary and secondary care systems.

Chris Spencer, CEO of EMIS Group said:

"We welcome this expansion to our long term partnership with NHS Wales and fully support their commitment to improve the provision of Emergency Care services. As well as providing vital information to clinicians in a hospital setting, Symphony will facilitate integration of care by those hospital clinicians and the hundreds of Welsh GPs who already use EMIS Group software.

"We are also delighted that Duane Lawrence is joining us as the Managing Director of Secondary Care. His extensive experience in managing healthcare businesses in the UK and internationally will be a valuable addition to the Group."
