OREANDA-NEWS. Representatives of the Temelin Nuclear Power Plant visited Elemash, a subsidiary of TVEL Fuel Company, to supervise the nuclear fuel production for Temelin NPP under the contract made between AO ČEZ Group and TVEL in 2006.

The parties discussed a broad range of issues related to the nuclear fuel utilization, long-term storage of fresh fuel, and incoming fuel control at Temelin NPP.

Mr. Kruml, Deputy Director, and Mr. Bigas, Head of Fuel Department at Temelin NPP, visited core production facilities and took part in a number of meetings. During the on-site visit, they were demonstrated manufacturing and quality control processes employed in the nuclear fuel production for Temelin NPP.

The Czech experts were fully satisfied with their on-site inspection and noted that Elemash was a reliable business partner focused on production quality and continuous performance improvement.

According to Mr. Jen Bigas, Head of Fuel Department at Temelin, the partners reviewed workflows in Elemash core divisions and examined the workplace records. "We were very much impressed with Elemash production facilities - the premises are clean and well organized, the workplaces are arranged in accordance with all applicable requirements. Elemash is truly committed to high production standards. We have seen the production of nuclear fuel rods for our power plant and quality control processes. Elemash is a reliable partner with long-term cooperation prospects."

Elemash produces nuclear fuel for 4 VVER-440 power units at Dukovany NPP and the first and second VVER-1000 power units at Temelin NPP. The first nuclear fuel deliveries were made in December 2009 under the contract made between ČEZ Group and TVEL Fuel Company in 2006.
