OREANDA-NEWS. "Slavyanka" Confectionery Holding has finalized the transaction on acquisition of 100 percentage equity stakes of Open Joint Stock Company "Orkla Brands Russia" (OJSC OBR) that belonged earlier to ORKLA group (Norway). 

In the course of transaction all production assets of OJSC OBR were acquired, including real estate in Yekaterinburg, Ulyanovsk and Leningrad region, as well as the production equipment and trademarks of the company. The parties agreed not to disclose financial details of the transaction.

Evgeny Sogulyak who previously held a post of JSC Poligrafiya-Slavyanka CEO is appointed as OJSC OBR CEO. Sergey Gusev, director of JSC Slavyanka Management Company is elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

"The decision on Orkla Brands Russia acquisition was made with the purpose of implementing several tasks. First of all, thanks to this acquisition we plan to strengthen our positions in the Russian confectionery market. Besides, we will provide more intense load to our enterprises: mechanical plant and printing production enterprise. And finally, we certainly want to return strong positions to such historical confectionery brands as "Krupskaya Factory ", "Volzhanka", "Pekar", "Konfi" whose significance has been slightly lost recently" - told Sergey Gusev, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of OJSC OBR. "I am sure that the merge of experience from two companies under the leadership of the Russian investor will give a new impulse for more efficient operation of the company", he continued.

The "Slavyanka" Group unites several industrial complexes located in Stary Oskol of the Belgorod region. Among them: the confectionery factory with capacity over 100 thousand tons per year that produces more than 250 product names; cocoa beans processing plant; factory on production of printing products and packing for food, tobacco, chemical, light industry, and Stary Oskol mechanical plant which provides all enterprises of the holding with the necessary production equipment.

“Orkla Brands Russia” was created in February 2011 as a result of “Confectionary Factory named after N.K. Krupskaya” and “SladCo” Confectionery Group merger. Currently “Orkla Brands Russia” among other leaders of confectionery industry in Russia produces all basic kinds of confectionery products: chocolate, sweets, caramel, biscuits, wafers under such brand names as “Slad&Co”, “Krupskaya Factory”, “Pekar”, etc. Production sites of the Company are located in Leningrad region, Ekaterinburg and Ulyanovsk. Over 2000 persons work at the Company’s enterprises.
