OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Motors saw strong growth in certain key segments as passenger cars (excluding UVs) and M&HCV grew 38 percent year-on-year, with total commercial and passenger vehicles sales (including exports) in January 2015 of 42,582 vehicles, a growth of 5 percent over 40,481 vehicles sold in January 2014. The company's domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for January 2015 were 38,621 vehicles, a growth of 5 percent over 36,657 vehicles sold in January 2014.

Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal were 405,577 vehicles, lower by 15 percent over 475,560 vehicles sold last year.

While the market continues to remain challenged by macroeconomic trends, besides positive growth in segments such as M&HCV and passenger cars, exports have grown in January 2015 by 4 percent over last year.

Passenger vehicles

In January 2015, Tata Motors passenger vehicles recorded sales of 13,047 vehicles, a growth of 19 percent as compared to 10,974 vehicles sold in January 2014.

The trend of growth in passenger vehicles continued with strong Zest sales and good response to the all-new Bolt. While the sales of passenger cars in January 2015 were at 11,637 vehicles, up 38 percent over January 2014, UV sales declined 44 percent at 1,410 vehicles in January 2015.

Cumulative sales of all passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were 105,274 vehicles, lower by 8 percent over last year.

Commercial vehicles

Tata Motors' sale of commercial vehicles in January 2015 in the domestic market remained flat at 25,574 vehicles. Light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales were at 14,301 vehicles, a decline of 18 percent over January 2014, while M&HCV sales continued to show growth at 11,273 vehicles, which is higher by 38 percent over January 2014.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were 259,716, lower by 19 percent over last year. Cumulative LCV sales were at 159,726 vehicles, a decline of 31 percent over last year, while M&HCV sales at 99,990 vehicles were higher by 13 percent over last year.

Exports

Tata Motors' sales from exports were at 3,961 vehicles in January 2015, a growth of 4 percent compared to 3,824 vehicles in January 2014. Cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal stood at 40,587 vehicles, a marginal growth of 1 percent over last year.
