TPC's Houston plant reports emissions

OREANDA-NEWS. The TPC Group reported emissions today at its Houston, Texas butadiene plant, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Emissions of butadiene, butane, ethane, ethylene, propylene and other materials were caused by the steaming of flare lines at the plant to clean out obstructions that have built up from various flaring activities, according to the filing. The emissions are expected to continue through tomorrow.

The Houston plant produces butadiene, butene-1 raffinate, isobutylene, diisobutylene and polyisobutylene. Combined production at the facility is in excess of 1.5bn lb/yr.
