OREANDA-NEWS. The cruise ferry Romantika will be invested altogether over million Euros during the renewal project of 2015, when the ship interior becomes a fresh and modern touch and the technical solutions will be updated to meet the expectation of the customers.

The renewal project began in February with nearly one week of dry docking in Turku Repair Yard (BLRT Grupp AS). During the docking, the following interior renewal works were carried out: the total rebuilding of the former Aperitifbar into the new Romantika lounge, partial renewal of the Piazza restaurant to be continued throughout March, interior renewal of the Buffet restaurant, and the renewal of the floors, walls and textiles in various passenger areas, including the cabins. Many of the works will be continued during coming months.

The technical part renewal included cleaning and repainting of the hull, cleaning and repainting of the car deck, change of parts in the propeller shaft, utilization of environmentally acceptable lubricant for the thrusters and stern tubes and CPP and clutch control upgrade.

As the renewal project will continue throughout the year 2015, where there will be additional renovations and upgrades to the interior, services on board such as catering and technical solutions.

Cruise ferry Romantika is the first ship in Tallink's newbuilding program 2002-2009, built in 2002. She has operated on Tallinn-Helsinki, Riga-Stockholm and Tallinn-Stockholm routes under Tallink brand. From August 2013 she is sailing on Tallinn-Stockholm route, offering two-night cruise experience as well as transportation service between the two capitals. Romantika is 193,8 meters long and 29 meters wide, has the highest ice class and a top speed of 22 knots. She takes on board up to 2500 passengers and has 727 cabins and 1030 lane meters of car deck for vehicles and cargo.

Her catering related facilities include two a la carte restaurants, buffet restaurant, a cafe and fast food restaurant. For children there is a special playroom and in weekends and school holidays you can meet the joyful cartoon character, Lotte. For adult passengers, there are a large showbar, two bars, a pub and a casino on board. For shopping the passengers can enjoy the large tax free market and a boutique and for wellness services, sauna area is available for guests. On deck 9, the conference center is situated. The cabins available include A and B class cabins, de Lux cabins and suites, also there are special cabins for handicapped people.

Turku Repair Yard is a ship repair yard located in Naantali (Finland) that was established in 1989 and since 2007 operates as a part of BLRT Grupp, one of the largest industrial holdings in the Baltic Sea region. Repair works are mainly done in dry dock, that is one of the biggest in Northern Europe.
