OREANDA-NEWS. Employees of KAMAZ on February 6th will perform public works in non-working days in order to improve the financial situation.

As the spokesperson of the press service of KAMAZ, Oleg Afanasyev, informed the agency "Interfax", currently the company employs about 40,000 people. Some of them - about 15% - are responsible for the sale of vehicles, service work also during non-automotive production days. According to preliminary estimation, based on past experience, the number of employees on public works could reach 10 thousand people - about 25% of all employees, said the spokesman.

"Despite the fact that there is still no formal decision of the Russian government to allocate money for public works yet, this Friday, many KAMAZ workers that want to earn during the downtime will be engaged in bringing order, repair and other activities that do not require special skills. This work will be paid at the expense of JSC "KAMAZ" - said the company.

Mr.Afanasev did not predict the amount of estimated costs. According to him, they will depend on the number of people that want to perform community service, time of employment. The project has the social character for the enterprise, he added.

KAMAZ introduces periodically the part-time working week from June of 2012 - in a period of declining demand for the products to avoid the overstocking of products and to optimize costs. The mode of four-day workweek is valid at KAMAZ from November 24th, 2014. In case of a fall in demand, the company may impose a mode of a three-day working week from March 2nd to May 24th 2015. The company noted that, in case of the improvement of the situation in the market and the formation of a sufficient number of orders, it is decided to cancel the short working week.
