OREANDA-NEWS. Within the scope of the first stage of the upgrade of the Sheremetyevo International Airport, Transstroymekhanizatsiya LLC (TSM, a subsidiary of Mostotrest) carried out the modernization and development of the airport infrastructure. The Federal State Unitary Enterprise Civil Airport (Airfield) Administration acted as the client under the project.

TSM specialists launched operations in the beginning of 2012. Within the scope of the project, an upgrade has been completed and the Sheremetyevo-2 apron which links to Runway № 2, along with the Sheremetyevo-1 western apron (with polyvalent multi-type aircraft parking stands) have been launched into operation. Moreover, the construction of an aircraft antifreeze treatment stand near taxiway № 26 has been completed, as well as the upgrade of drainage facilities. The installation of lighting navigational aids and aircraft parking stand light towers has been completed as well.

The final stage of the project entails the organization of electrical power supply for transformer substations.

The Sheremetyevo International Airport Upgrade and Development Project (Stage 1) has been developed pursuant to a decree by the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya), and is an integral part of the Federal Target Program Modernization of Russia's Transport System (2010-2015).

All project solutions are in line with ICAO requirements. International Civil Aviation Organization is a UN agency, which sets international civil aviation standards and oversees its development with a view to ensure safety and efficiency.

Sheremetyevo is a major Russian airport that services scheduled international flights. The Sheremetyevo airport route network includes over 200 destinations. According to data from 2013, Sheremetyevo passenger traffic amounted to about 30 million people.
